In the April 2026 edition of Luister Magazine, in celebration of Willem Jeths’ premiere of his third piano concerto, Karen Duking sat down with Willem to discuss the creative process behind the composition, as well as his collaboration with pianist Ellen Corver, to whom the piece is dedicated and who will perform the concerto on 2 and 3 May 2026 with the Residentie Orkest under the direction of Anthony Hermus at Amare, the Hague.
Naturally, knowing Jeths, it didn't turn out to be just another piano concerto. In his new work, titled "Scorching Passions," a different facet of human passion takes center stage in each movement. The first movement focuses on love for the ruthless woman; the second deals with adoration and falling for dazzling beauty, while the third revolves around true love—a love that becomes literally fatal.
