My Third Piano Concerto, written for the remarkable pianist Ellen Corver, whom I have known for nearly forty years, carries the subtitle Scorching Passions. Each of its three movements explores a different facet of human passion.

The first movement centres on a love for the irreconcilable—the harsh and unrelenting. The second movement forms a complete contrast, focusing on adoration and surrender to dazzling beauty.
