About the event
In the series Welcome to Calefax-land , reed quintet Calefax annually invites a well-known Dutchman. Not a musician, but someone with a passion for music. This person is not just a guest, but develops the program together with Calefax and is present at the concert for the presentation. The guest in this second edition is Paulien Cornelisse, one of the Netherlands' most creative and original minds.
Cornelisse writes, makes theatre, podcasts and television programmes. Anyone who visits her performances always sees a great music lover at work. Cornelisse: “Together with Calefax, I want to delve into the overlap between language and music. Could you talk with a wind instrument? Over the centuries, many composers have attempted to convert sounds from nature, and from man, into music. Let's listen to those examples. But we will also approach the question from the other side. When does language become music?”
